I am currently interested on the use of biogeographical information for designing conservation strategies for the Cactaceae. Most of my work has focused so far in the Chihuahuan Desert region, although I maintain a strong interest in all North and Central American taxa. I firmly believe in the value of solid, empirical data to improve our understanding of the recent biogeographical history of living organisms, and in the importance of this knowledge to make the best possible decisions for biodiversity conservation.
