NIA Best Student Paper Award

In 1994 was created the NIA Award, for the Best Student Paper in Neotropical Ichthyology.

The Neotropical Ichthyological Association will recognize with a cash award the best student paper (oral or poster presentation) presented on a topic which in the opinion of the judges substantially includes the study of Neotropical fishes. To be eligible the student must be the first author and the presenter of the paper or poster. Multiauthored presentations are eligible. To be eligible a student must be registered in a degree program (graduate or undergraduate), or have received her/his degree no more than 15 months prior to the presentation, and indicate to the meeting organizers their intention to compete.

Students that have already received the NIA Award are Cristina Cox Fernandes (1994), John P. Sullivan (1995), Monica Toledo-Piza (1996), D. A. Arrington (2000), and M. T. Craig (2000).
